Virgin Active Health Club Sun Valley has moved into our area and I have been converted!
The local ladies’ gym where I had been attending sadly closed down. My gym-buddies and I didn’t know what we were going to do in its place. After a month of infrequent walks around our beautiful neighbourhood, I knew that I had to get back to regular exercise.
Virgin Active opened in Sun Valley late last year just around the corner from us. Well, five corners to be exact. It is a spanking new state-of-the-art gym.
I am quite a lazy exerciser, but have now become hooked by the warm welcome, outstanding facilities, and sense of well being after my (gentle) workouts.
I have a long way to go, but believe that slow and steady wins the race.
Bottom line – one has to enjoy it, otherwise why go.
I am into my second week, going three times a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday – and can’t wait for the next due day to come. I set the alarm for 06:15, and am happy to rise while the rest of the household is asleep. Today, I walked briskly for 10 minutes, cycled for 5 minutes and then cross-trained for five. I listened to a fantastic podcast from Bethel Ministries, so was being inspired in my inner-man while, exercising (gently) the outer. Stretches for me are the real reason I go. I warm up – so I can work on lengthening the ligaments.
The swimming pool at Virgin Active is the best!
Not having swum lengths for many, many years, I was not sure how my body would cope. Well, I loved it! The first time I did 10 lengths – and nearly died. But felt so good after wards. The second time I managed 12 lengths. I will build up slowly. After my swim, the steam-room is the best place to do my stretches, then a wonderful shower, blow-dry hair, and off I go ready to face the day with tons of energy and a positive state of mind.
If you are a member of Virgin Active Health Club, I am sure you can arrange to keep up your training while on holiday here at African Violet Guest Suites, and visit our first-rate local gym.
